Ultimate Viking is an 8-episode series where contestants live, train, and compete in Viking-inspired challenges to test their physical and mental strength. Hosted by Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju and Gry Molvær Hivju, the show blends adventure with immersive living history to explore Viking society. Co-produced by Zig Zag Productions and Wildflame, it was filmed in the UK and Norway on a purpose-built Viking settlement and includes a one-hour documentary special.
I worked remotely on the initial construction drawings for designer Stephen Nicholas. It was an interesting side project — part research, part technical exercise — and my first time draughting for a reality competition format. The challenge lay in designing structures that weren’t just for camera, but had to function as long-term, lived-in environments for the contestants to eat, sleep, and work in, all while standing up to the demands of filming in the elements.
